1754 — Abd Allāh ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us, saying: Abd al-A'lā ibn Hammād narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Jabbār ibn al-Ward al-Makkī narrated to us, saying: I heard Atā' ibn Abī Rabāh say:
“I have never seen a gathering more distinguished than that of Ibn Abbās, richer in jurisprudential learning, or possessed of a more bountiful ⦗2271⦘ table. Those versed in jurisprudence gathered around him, as did those versed in the Quran and those versed in poetry. He would send them all away satisfied, each having drawn from a vast source.”
