1751 — Abū Bakr Abd Allāh ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Abū Hishām al-Rifāī narrated to us, saying: Abd Allāh ibn Idrīs narrated to us, saying: Layth informed us, from Tāwūs, who said: He was asked, “You met the Companions of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—yet devoted yourself to Ibn Abbās?” He replied, “I met seventy of Muhammad’s Companions—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and whenever they disagreed over anything, they would ultimately defer to Ibn Abbās’s opinion.”
