1735 — Abū al-Hasan ʿAlī ibn Ishāq ibn Zātyā also narrated to us: Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Harawī narrated to us: ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUthmān ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqās narrated to us: My maternal grandfather, Mālik ibn Hamza ibn Abī Usayd al-Sāʿidī, narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muttalib, may Allah be pleased with him: “O Abū al-Fadl, you and your sons must not leave your home until I come to you, for I have need of you.”

He said: They waited for him until he came after the morning had advanced. He entered and said, “Peace be upon you.” They replied, “And upon you be peace, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.” He asked, “How are you this morning?” They replied, “We are well, praise be to Allah. And how are you this morning? May our father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “I am well this morning, praise be to Allah.” Then he said, “Come closer, come closer, each of you moving toward the others.”

Once they had drawn close enough, he enveloped them in his cloak and said, “O Lord, this is my uncle and my father’s counterpart, and these are the members of my household. Shield them from the Fire just as I have covered them with this cloak of mine.” He said: The threshold of the door and the walls of the house responded, “Amen! Amen! Amen!”
