1731 — And Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Sālih and Jafar ibn Musāfir narrated to us; they said: Muhammad ibn Talha al-Taymī narrated to us, from Abū Suhayl ibn ⦗2251⦘ Mālik, from Saīd ibn al-Musayyib, from Sad ibn Abī Waqqās—may Allah have mercy on him—who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out to prepare an army, while al-Abbās, may Allah be pleased with him, came out through the gate of Medina. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw him, he said, “This is al-Abbās, your Prophet’s paternal uncle—the most open-handed man of Quraysh and the one who best maintains ties with them.”
