Book of the Virtues of al-Abbās ibn Abd al-Muttalib and All His Descendants, may Allah be pleased with them all

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, may Allah Most High have mercy on him, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would honor and revere his uncle al-Abbās ibn Abd al-Muttalib, may Allah be pleased with him. He would be angered by whatever angered him and would address him as, “My uncle!”

He prayed that Allah Almighty would shield him and his descendants from the Fire, and he prayed for Abd Allāh ibn Abbās that Allah would teach him wisdom and interpretation. Allah the Generous answered his prayer concerning him, and Ibn Abbās, may Allah be pleased with him, came to be called “the Interpreter of the Quran.”

Umar ibn al-Khattāb, may Allah be pleased with him, would hold al-Abbās, his descendants, and Abd Allāh ibn Abbās in high esteem—and they were worthy of it. May Allah be pleased with them all.
