1717 — Al-Firyābī narrated to us, saying: Qutayba ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, saying: Abu Hafs Umar ibn Hārūn narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik ibn Īsā al-Thaqafī, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbās, who said: When news arrived of the death of Jaʿfar ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—went to Asmāʾ bint Umays ⦗2235⦘ and seated Abd Allah and Muhammad, Jaʿfar’s two sons, on his lap. He then said, “Gabriel—peace be upon him—has informed me that Allah, Glorious and Exalted, has taken Jaʿfar as a martyr and that he has two wings with which he flies alongside the angels in Paradise.” He then said, “O Allah, take Jaʿfar’s place in caring for his children.”
