1714 — Ibn Abī Dāwūd also informed us; he said: Ishāq ibn Mansūr al-Kawsaj narrated to us; he said: Ubayd Allah ibn Mūsā narrated to us, from Isrāʾīl, from Uthmān ibn al-Mughīra, from Muhammad ibn Alī, who said: Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—went out to the people and said, “Congratulate me on marrying the daughter of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him.” He said: It was as though they said something to him, so he said, “I indeed had the honor of accompanying the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—but I heard the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—say: ‘Every tie of kinship by marriage and every line of descent will be severed on the Day of Resurrection except my ties of kinship by marriage and my lineage.’”
