CHAPTER: ON THE WORDS OF ALLAH, MIGHTY AND MAJESTIC:

“And the bonds between them will be severed” [al-Baqarah 2:166]

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: Among the virtues of the Household of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—in this world and the Hereafter is that every bond and line of descent will be severed on the Day of Resurrection, except the Messenger of Allah’s lineage, bonds, and marital ties.

Ibn Abbas said concerning, “And the bonds between them will be severed” [al-Baqarah 2:166]: “It means affection in this world.”

Mujāhid said concerning, “And the bonds between them will be severed” [al-Baqarah 2:166]: “It means the ties they maintained with one another in this world.”

The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Every bond and line of descent will be severed on the Day of Resurrection, except my lineage and my bonds.”
