1705 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Abū Bakr Shādhān narrated to us, saying: Ismā‘īl ibn Abī Uways, the son of Mālik ibn Anas’s sister, narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, from Abd Allah ibn Abī Abd Allah al-Basrī and from Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dīlī, from ⦗2221⦘ Ikrima, from Ibn Abbās, who reported that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said:
“O people, listen to my words, for I do not know; perhaps I shall not meet you again after this day of mine at this place. O people, your blood and your wealth are inviolable until the Day you meet your Lord, Mighty and Majestic.”
He then related the sermon through to his words:
“O people, understand my words, for I have indeed delivered the message. O people, I have left among you that to which, if you hold fast, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and the sunnah of your Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him.”
He then related the hadith to its conclusion.
