175 — Abū al-Fadl Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us, saying: Al-Fadl ibn Ziyād narrated to us, saying: Abū Tālib narrated to us, saying: Ahmad said to me, “Abū Tālib, nothing is harder on them than when you bring before me someone who says, ‘The Quran is created.’ I ask, ‘Is Allah’s knowledge created?’ They reply, ‘No.’ I then say, ‘Allah’s knowledge is the Quran.’” ⦗508⦘ Allah Most High said: “And if you were to follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you would then certainly be among the wrongdoers” [al-Baqarah: 145]. He also said: “And whoever disputes with you concerning him after the knowledge that has come to you” [Āl Imrān: 61]. This occurs in the Quran in more than one place.
