A Comprehensive Book on the Virtues of the Prophet’s Household—may Allah be pleased with them
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: I have mentioned such of the virtues of the Commander of the Faithful, Alī ibn Abī Tālib, Fātima, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn—may Allah be pleased with them—as I could recall in Mecca—may Allah increase it in honor. Their virtues are indeed abundant and immense. I shall now recount the virtues of the Prophet’s Household collectively. Allah—Mighty and Majestic—mentioned them in His Book in more than one place and commanded His Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—to summon them when invoking Allah’s judgment. Exalted is His remembrance; He said:
“Say, ‘Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves; then let us earnestly supplicate.’” [Āl Imrān: 61]
They were Alī, Fātima, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn—may Allah be pleased with them. They are also among those concerning whom Allah—Mighty and Majestic—said:
“Allah only intends to remove impurity from you, O People of the House, and to purify you completely.” [al-Ahzāb: 33]
They are those whom the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—covered with a cloak of his patterned with camel-saddle designs; it is also said that it was a Khaybar cloak. He said to them:
“Allah only intends to remove impurity from you, O People of the House, and to purify you completely.” [al-Ahzāb: 33]
