1671 — Abū al-Hasan ‘Alī ibn Ishāq ibn Zātiyā also informed us, saying: ⦗2179⦘ al-Hasan ibn ‘Arafa narrated to us, saying: Abū Hafs al-Abbār narrated to us, from Ismā‘īl ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān al-Awdī, from Abū Janāb al-Kalbī, who said:

“When al-Husayn ibn ‘Alī, may Allah be pleased with him, was killed, the jinn lamented him. Among their words that were preserved were:

[The kāmil meter]

The Prophet stroked his brow,
and radiance shone upon his cheeks.
His parents were of Quraysh’s noblest line;
his grandfather, the best of grandsires.”
