1666 — Abū Muhammad Abdullah ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us, saying: Yaʿqūb ibn Humayd ibn Kāsib narrated to us, saying: Sufyān ibn Hamza narrated to us, from Kathīr ibn Zayd, from al-Muttalib ibn Abdullah, who said:
When al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was surrounded, he asked, “What is the name of this land?” He was told, “Karbalā.” He then said, “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth: it is a land of anguish and affliction.”
