1662 — Sahl ibn Abī Sahl al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Umar ibn Sālih ibn Ziyād narrated to us, saying: Abdullāh ibn Jafar narrated to us, from Hāshim ibn Hāshim, from Ubaydullāh ⦗2173⦘ ibn Abdullāh ibn Zama, from Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:

“Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slept, he would not allow anyone to enter his presence except Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both). One day, he slept in my house, and I sat at the door to prevent anyone from entering. Husayn came running, so I let him pass. He went in and fell upon the Prophet’s stomach. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) awoke with a start, weeping, and embraced him. I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, why are you weeping when you went to sleep in such good spirits?’

“He replied, ‘Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me with this soil.’ She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) opened his palm, and there was red soil in it. ‘He informed me that this son of mine will be killed on this soil.’

“She said: I asked, ‘What land is this?’ He replied, ‘This is Karbalā.’ I said, ‘A land of anguish and affliction.’”
