171 — Abū al-Qāsim also informed us, saying: Saʿīd ibn Nusayr Abū ⦗505⦘ Uthmān al-Wāsitī related to me in the gathering of Khalaf al-Bazzār, saying: I heard Ibn Uyaynah say, “What does this little creature say?”—meaning Bishr al-Marīsī. They replied, “Abū Muhammad, he claims that the Quran is created.” He said, “He lies! Allah Most High says, ‘Surely His is the creation and the command’ [al-Aʿrāf: 54]. The creation is Allah’s creation, while the command is the Quran.”
