1652 — Abū Saīd Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyād al-Arābī narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan ⦗2163⦘ ibn Affān al-Kūfī narrated to us. He said: Zayd ibn al-Hubāb narrated to us. He said: Husayn ibn Wāqid narrated to us, from Ibn Burayda, from his father, who said:

“While the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—was delivering a sermon, al-Hasan and al-Husayn—may Allah be pleased with them both—approached wearing red shirts, stumbling and getting back up. When he saw them, he descended and picked them up. He then climbed back up and placed them in his lap, saying, ‘Allah has spoken the truth: “Your wealth and your children are only a trial” [al-Taghābun: 15]. I saw these two stumbling, and I could not restrain myself until I picked them up.’”
