1644 — Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Layth al-Jawharī narrated to us, saying: Abu ⦗2157⦘ Kurayb Muhammad ibn al-ʿAlāʾ narrated to us, saying: Abu Muʿāwiya narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl ibn Muslim, from al-Hasan, from Abu Bakra, who said: I saw al-Hasan and al-Husayn—may Allah be pleased with them both—leaping onto the back of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—while he was praying. He would support them with his hand, and once he had settled on the ground, he would let them go. When he had finished praying, he seated them in his lap, stroked their heads, and then said, “These two sons of mine are my two fragrant flowers in this world.” He then turned to the people and said, “This son of mine is a leader, and I hope that Allah—Mighty and Majestic—will reconcile through him two great factions at the end of time.” Muhammad ibn al-Husayn said: He meant al-Hasan—may Allah be pleased with him.
