1625 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Ishāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, saying: al-Karmānī ibn Amr narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abān narrated to us, saying: Abū Janāb narrated to us, from al-Shaʿbī, from Zayd ibn Yuthay, from Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him—with no one else present. Then Abū Bakr and Umar approached, walking together, and he said: “O Alī, these two are the leaders of all the middle-aged men of Paradise, except for the prophets ⦗2143⦘ and messengers. Do not tell either of them anything about this, O Alī. Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.” He said: Alī said, “By Allah, I did not relate this hadith until they had both died.”
