1616 — Abū Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad also narrated to us: Abū Amr ⦗2131⦘ Ahmad ibn Amr ibn Khālid ibn Umar al-Salafī narrated to us—Khālid was known as Abū al-Akhyal al-Himsī—who said: My father narrated to me: Ubayd Allah ibn Mūsā narrated to us: Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us, from al-Amash, from Ibrāhīm, from Alqama, from Abd Allah, who said:
On the morning of the wedding, Fātima—may Allah be pleased with her—was seized by trembling. The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said to her:
“I have married you to a man of preeminence in this world, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous. Fātima, when I wished to contract your marriage to Alī, Allah Most High commanded the trees of the Gardens, and they bore robes and jewelry. He then ordered the trees to scatter these among the angels. Whoever took anything that day in greater quantity and of finer quality than what his companion took would boast of it to his companion until the Day of Resurrection.”
Umm Salama said: Fātima—may Allah be pleased with her—would pride herself above the other women because Gabriel—peace be upon him—was the first to deliver a marriage address on her behalf.
