1599 — Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muhammad ibn Makhlad al-ʿAttār narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Mansūr narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed us of it, from ʿAbd al-Karīm Abū Umayya, from Qutham, the freedman of al-Fadl, who said:

When Ibn Muljam—may Allah’s curse be upon him—struck ʿAlī—may Allah be pleased with him—ʿAlī said to al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and Muhammad—may Allah be pleased with them: “I solemnly charge you to detain the man. If I die, kill him, but do not mutilate him.”

He said: When ʿAlī died, Husayn and Muhammad went to the man, cut him to pieces, and burned him.
