1595 — Abū Muhammad ʿAbd Allah ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī al-Hulwānī narrated to us. He said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Sālih—meaning the scribe of al-Layth ibn Saʿd—narrated to us. He said: Al-Layth ibn Saʿd informed me. He said: Khālid ibn Yazīd narrated to me, from Saʿīd ibn Abī Hilāl, from Zayd ibn Aslam, that Abū Sinān al-Duʾalī—this is how he said it—said that he visited ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, during an illness from which he was suffering. Someone said to him, “We were indeed afraid for you, O Commander of the Faithful, because of this illness of yours.” He replied, “But by Allah, I did not fear for myself because of it, for I heard the truthful one whose truthfulness was affirmed say: ‘You will be struck a blow here’—and he pointed to his temples—‘causing blood to stream until it dyes your beard. The man who delivers it will be the most wretched of this nation, just as the one who hamstrung the she-camel ⦗2104⦘ was the most wretched of Thamūd.’”

1596 — And ʿAbd Allah ibn Sālih informed us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī narrated to us. He said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us. He said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Jaʿfar informed us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: Yazīd ibn Umayya, Abū Sinān al-Dīlī, narrated to me, from ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, the same report from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
