1589 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd also narrated to us; he said: Hārūn ibn Ishāq narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Abd Allah ibn Yūnus narrated to us, from Atā ibn Muslim, who said: I heard Sufyān—meaning al-Thawrī—say:

“No one ever argued against Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—without Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—defeating him in argument.”
