1583 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī also narrated to us ⦗2092⦘; he said: Muhammad ibn Abbād al-Makkī narrated to us; he said: Abū Saīd, the client of Banū Hāshim, narrated to us, from Sadaqa ibn al-Rabī, from Umāra ibn Ghaziyya, from Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abī Saīd, from his father, who said:
A group of the Emigrants and the Helpers were with us at the Prophet’s house—peace and blessings be upon him. He—the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him—came out to us and said, “Shall I tell you who the best among you are?”
We replied, “Yes.”
He said, “The best among you are those who fulfill what they owe in full and do so generously. Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, loves the unassuming and God-fearing.”
Then Ali ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—passed by, and the Prophet said, “The truth is with this man; the truth is with this man.”
