1571 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us: Muhammad ibn Sulaymān Luwayn narrated to us: Sufyān ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Amr ibn Dīnār, from Abū Ja‘far, from Ibrāhīm ibn Sa‘d, from his father, who said:

I was with the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—while a group of people were with him. Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—entered, whereupon they stood up and left, and Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—sat down. After leaving, they reproached one another and said, “What made us leave?” They then returned, and the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “It was not I who made you leave and admitted him, nor was it I who admitted him and made you leave. Rather, it was Allah—glorious and exalted is He—who made you leave and admitted him.”
