1570 — Abū Abd Allah Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Abd al-Jabbār al-Sūfī informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Bakkār narrated to us. He said: Ismāīl ibn Zakariyyā narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād, who said: I asked Saīd ibn Jubayr about the people of Nahrawān. He replied: Masrūq narrated to us ⦗2083⦘, saying:
“Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—asked me about them. She said, ‘Did you yourself see the man whom they call the one with the breast-like arm?’
“I replied, ‘I did not see him, but people who did see him have testified before me.’
“She said, ‘When you reach that land, write to me with the testimony of trustworthy men who saw him.’
“When I arrived, the people were divided into factions. I spoke with seventeen men from each faction who had seen him. I said, ‘Every one of these men is upright and trustworthy.’
“She then said, ‘May Allah deal with so-and-so! He wrote to me claiming that he had found him in Egypt.’”
