1562—Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us, saying: Bundār Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn Saīd al-Qattān narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us.

1563—Al-Mutarriz said: Sufyān ibn Wakī also narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to me, saying: Abū Ishāq narrated to me, from Nājiya ibn Kab, from Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:

When Abū Tālib died, I went to the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—and said, “Your uncle has died.”

He said, “Go and bury him, and do nothing else until you return to me.”

So I went and buried him. I then returned to him and said, “I have buried him.” He instructed me to bathe, so I did.

Wakī added: He said, “He then made supplications for me that I would not wish ⦗2078⦘ to exchange for anything on earth.”
