1561—Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Sufyān, Abū Bakr ibn Zanjawayh, al-Fadl ibn Yaʿqūb, and Muhammad ibn Masʿūd al-Ajamī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Yūsuf al-Firyābī narrated to us, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Amr ibn Murra, from Abd Allāh ibn Salama, from Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:
I fell ill, and the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—came to visit me. I said, “O Allah, if my appointed time has come, grant me rest; if this is to be affliction and hardship, grant me patience ⦗2077⦘; and if my appointed time is deferred, ease my suffering.”
He said, “Repeat it. What did you say?”
I replied, “I said such-and-such.”
He then placed his hand—or his foot—upon my stomach and said, “O Allah, heal him.” Thereafter, I never fell ill again.
