1557 — Abū Ja‘far Ahmad ibn Ishāq ibn al-Buhlūl, the judge, related to us, saying: My father—may Allah have mercy on him—related to me, saying: My father—may Allah be pleased with him—related to me, from Sallām ibn Sulaym al-Tamīmī, from Zayd al-Ammī, from Abū al-Siddīq al-Nājī, from Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudrī, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—said: “The most merciful member of my nation toward my nation is Abū Bakr; the strongest of them in the religion of Allah is Umar; the best judge among them is Ali; and the most genuinely modest among them is Uthmān.” He then mentioned the hadith.
