1554 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī ⦗2072⦘ related to us, saying: Abū al-Rabī al-Zahrānī related to us, saying: Sharīk related to us, from Simāk, from Hanash, from Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—sent me as a judge. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am a young man, yet you are sending me to people advanced in years.” He then made several supplications for me and said, “When two litigants come before you and you have heard one of them, do not judge between them until you have heard the other, for that will enable you to reach a firmer judgment.” Thereafter, I never again had difficulty in judging.
