1550 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd related to us, saying: Bahr ibn al-Fadl al-Anazī related to us, saying: Muhammad Umar ibn al-Rūmī related to us, saying: Sharīk informed us, from Salama ibn Kuhayl, from al-Sunābihī, from Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “I am the house of wisdom, and Ali is its door. Whoever seeks wisdom must come to it through its door.” He added: Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—used to say: “Within my breast there is indeed abundant knowledge.”
