1537 — Abū Muhammad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī Umar narrated to us, saying: al-Husayn ibn Alī narrated to us, saying: Yaqūb ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishāq, from Abān ibn Sālih, from al-Fadl ibn Maqil, from ⦗2060⦘ Abd Allah ibn Niyār al-Aslamī, from Amr ibn Shās al-Aslamī—who was among those who participated in the expedition of al-Hudaybiya—who said: “I set out for Yemen with Alī ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—and he treated me harshly during that journey, until I harbored resentment toward him. When we returned to Medina, I complained about him in the mosque, until word of it reached the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him. One day, I entered the mosque while the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—was among a group of his Companions. He fixed me with his gaze—that is, he stared intently at me—until I sat down. He then said, ‘O Amr, by Allah, you have indeed hurt me.’ I replied, ‘I seek refuge in Allah from hurting you, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said, ‘Whoever hurts Alī has hurt me.’”
