1520 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Jafar—meaning Ghundar—narrated to us, saying: Shuba narrated to us, from Maymūn Abū ⦗2048⦘ Abd Allah, who said: I was with Zayd ibn Arqam when a man came from the farthest part of al-Fustāt and asked him about Alī—may Allah be pleased with him. He replied: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “Do I not have a greater claim upon the believers than they have upon themselves?” They replied, “Indeed.” He said, “Then whoever has me as his ally has Alī as his ally.”
