1517 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī ⦗2046⦘ narrated to us, saying: Uthmān ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Sharīk narrated to us, from Hanash ibn al-Hārith, from Riyāh ibn al-Hārith, who said: While Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—was seated in al-Rahbah, a man bearing signs of travel arrived and said, “Peace be upon you, my master.” Alī asked, “Who is this?” They replied, “Abū Ayyūb al-Ansārī.” Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “Make room for him.” Abū Ayyūb then said: I heard the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—say, “Whoever has me as his ally has Alī as his ally.”
