1497 — ʿUmar ibn Ayyūb al-Saqatī narrated to us: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī narrated to us: Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us: Sharīk narrated to us, from Abū Rabīʿa al-Iyādī, from Ibn Burayda, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “My Lord—Glorious and Exalted—has commanded me to love four of my Companions and informed me that He loves them.” He was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who are they?” He replied, “ʿAlī is one of them, along with Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī, the Persian, and al-Miqdād ibn al-Aswad.”
