1492 — Abū Shuayb Abd Allāh ibn al-Hasan al-Harrānī narrated to us: Yahyā ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Himmānī narrated to us: Abū Awāna narrated to us, from Abū Balj, from Amr ibn Maymūn, from Ibn Abbās, who said: The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “Tomorrow, I shall certainly give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love.” He then asked, “Where is Alī?” They replied, “He is grinding grain,” though none of them was willing to do the grinding. Alī was brought to him, and he handed him the banner; he then came with Safiyya.
