1491 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allāh ibn al-Abbās al-Tayālisī narrated to us: Ibrāhīm ibn Saīd al-Jawharī narrated to us: Ismāīl ibn Abī Uways narrated to us, from his father, from ⦗2027⦘ al-Hasan, from Khārija ibn Sad ibn Abī Waqqās, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “I shall certainly give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love.” He then summoned Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—and gave it to him.
