1490 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd also narrated to us, saying: Abbād ibn Yaqūb narrated to us, saying: Īsā ibn Rāshid informed us, from Alī ibn Badhīma, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbās, who said:
“No ⦗2025⦘ verse containing the words, ‘O you who believe’ [al-Baqara: 104], was ever revealed except that Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—was its foremost and noblest figure and its leader. Allah—Mighty and Majestic—reproached the Companions of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—in more than one verse of the Quran, yet He never mentioned Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—except favorably.”
