1487 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd al-Sijistānī narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn ʿAbd al-Rahmān al-Kindī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Saʿīd ibn Zāʾida narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Jārūd narrated to us, from Abū al-Tufayl, who said: I heard ʿAlī—may Allah be pleased with him—say: “I adjure all of you by Allah: is there among you a brother of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—other than me?” They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: does anyone among you have a paternal uncle like my uncle Hamza, the Lion of Allah and the Lion of His Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—the best of the martyrs?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: does anyone among you have anyone like my brother Jaʿfar, graced with two jewel-adorned wings by which he flies wherever he wishes in Paradise?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: does anyone among you have a wife like my wife Fātima—may Allah be pleased with her—the daughter of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ ⦗2020⦘ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: does anyone among you have two grandsons like mine, al-Hasan and al-Husayn, the leaders of the youth of Paradise?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me who prayed with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—facing both directions of prayer?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me and my wife Fātima who used to receive the one-fifth share?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me who used to receive two shares—one from the special allocation and one from the general allocation?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I further adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me whose love Allah, Mighty and Majestic, commanded from heaven in His words, Mighty and Majestic is He: “So give the near relative his right” [al-Rūm: 38]?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me who slew the polytheists of Quraysh in every fierce engagement at the command of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I further adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you who rendered greater service in protecting the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—than I did when I came and lay in his bed, shielding him with my own life and offering up my lifeblood for him?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I further adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me whom the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—made his brother and to whom he said more than once ⦗2021⦘, “You are to me as Aaron was to Moses”?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’ He said, ‘I further adjure you by Allah: is there anyone among you other than me who attended to closing the eyes of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace?’ They replied, ‘No, by Allah.’”
