1462 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd al-Sijistānī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ishāq al-Sīnī narrated to us, saying: Abū Āsim narrated to us, saying: Uthmān ibn Murra ⦗1995⦘ narrated to us, saying: My mother narrated to me, saying: When Uthmān—may Allah be pleased with him—was killed, the jinn wept at the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—for three nights. She would recite to us what they had said in lament for Uthmān—may Allah be pleased with him:
[Ramal meter]
That night at the Mosque, as they hurled hard, unyielding stones;
Then at dawn they rose, pelting a falcon radiant as a shooting star—
Their pride among the clan and in the council,
The liberator of those in bondage.
