149 — Abū Zakariyyā Yahyā ibn Muhammad al-Hinnāʾī informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Hisāb narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Abd Allah ibn Abī Mulayka, that Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—said: One day, the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—recited this verse: “It is He who sent down the Book to you. Some of its verses are definitive—they are the foundation of the Book—while others are ambiguous” [Āl Imrān: 7], continuing to the end of the verse. She then said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “When you see those who argue about it—or use it in argument—they are the ones whom Allah Most High meant, so beware of them.”
