1449 — Abū Ja‘far Ahmad ibn Khālid al-Bardha‘ī also narrated to me in the Sacred Mosque. He said: Muhammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Bint Matar al-Warrāq narrated to us. He said: Abū Qatan narrated to us, from Shu‘bah, from Abū Awn, from Muhammad ibn Hātib, who said: Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—was asked about Uthmān—may Allah be pleased with him. He replied, “He was among those who believed, then were mindful of Allah, then believed, and then were mindful of Allah.”
