1433 — Abū Jafar Ahmad ibn Khālid al-Bardhaʿī narrated to us in the Sacred Mosque. He said: Muhammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Bint Matar al-Warrāq narrated to us. He said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us. He said: Al-Awwām ibn Hawshab informed us. He said: Habīb ibn Abī Thābit narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Alī, who said: On the Day of the House, Uthmān (may Allah be pleased with him) sent for Alī, summoning him. Alī intended to go to him, but they clung to him and prevented him. He then cast down a black turban that he had been wearing and proclaimed three times, “O Allah, I do not approve of his killing, nor did I command it.”
