The Book of the Virtues of the Commander of the Faithful, Uthmān ibn Affān—may Allah be pleased with him and with all the Companions
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The foremost of Uthmān ibn Affān’s virtues, after faith in Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and in His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, honored him by marrying him to two daughters of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, one after the other. From the time Allah created Adam, peace be upon him, until the Day of Resurrection, no one other than Uthmān ibn Affān, may Allah be pleased with him, has ever been married to two daughters of a prophet. This was a distinction with which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, honored him, in addition to his many other honors, noble merits, and excellent virtues. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also gave him the glad tidings of martyrdom and foretold that he would be killed unjustly. He commanded him to remain patient, and so he remained patient, may Allah be pleased with him, until he was killed, thereby sparing Muslim blood.
