1354 — Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Umar—that is, Ibn Abān al-Kūfī—narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn ⦗1885⦘ Khirāsh narrated to us, from al-Awwām ibn Hawshab, from Mujāhid, from Ibn Abbās, who said, “When Umar ibn al-Khattāb—may Allah be pleased with him—embraced Islam, Gabriel—peace be upon him—descended to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and said, ‘O Muhammad, the inhabitants of heaven have indeed rejoiced today at Umar’s embrace of Islam—may Allah be pleased with him.’”
