1336 — Ibn Makhlad, Abū Abdullāh al-Attār, informed us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Arafa narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, Ibn Abī Laylā, Kathīr al-Nawwā’, and Abdullāh ibn Suhbān—all of them from Atiyya al-Awfī, from Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudrī, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Those who occupy the highest ranks will surely be seen by those beneath them just as you see a rising star on one of the horizons of heaven. Indeed, Abū Bakr and Umar are among them—and what excellent men they are!”
