1330 — Abū Muhammad Yahyā ibn Muhammad ibn Sā'id narrated to us: Abd al-Jabbār ibn al-Alā al-Attār narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us: Abū al-Zinād narrated to us, from al-Araj, from Abū Salama, from Abū Hurayra; and Mis'ar, from Sa'd—that is, Ibn Ibrāhīm—from Abū Salama, from Abū Hurayra, who said:
While a man was driving a cow, he mounted it and struck it. The cow said, “We were not created for this; we were created only to till the land.”
They exclaimed, “Glory be to Allah! A cow speaking?”
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “I believe it—and so do Abū Bakr and Umar—though neither of them is here.”
He continued: “And while a man was with his flock, a wolf attacked and seized one of the sheep. The man pursued her and rescued her. The wolf said, ‘There! You have taken her from me. But who will look after her on the day of the beasts of prey—the day when she will have ⦗1863⦘ no shepherd but me?’”
They exclaimed, “Glory be to Allah! A wolf speaking?”
The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “I believe it—and so do Abū Bakr and Umar—though neither of them is here.”
Ibn Sā'id said: I know of no one who narrated it from Mis'ar except Ibn Uyayna.
