1324 — Abū Ja‘far Ahmad ibn Ishāq al-Buhlūl, the judge, narrated to us. He said: My father—may Allah have mercy on him—narrated to me. He said: My father—may Allah be pleased with him—narrated to me, from Ibn al-Furāt ibn al-Sā’ib, from Maymūn ibn Mihrān, from Ibn Umar, who reported that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—wanted to send a man on an important mission, while Abū Bakr and Umar were at his right and left. Alī—may Allah be pleased with him and with both of them—said, “Why not send these two?” He replied, “How could I send these two, when their standing in this religion is like that of hearing and sight in the head?”
