1314 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Al-Musayyab ibn Wādih al-Sulamī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Firās, from al-Shabī, from al-Hārith, from Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—when Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—approached. He said, “O Alī, these two are the leaders of the mature men among the people of Paradise, from the earliest generations to the latest, apart from ⦗1849⦘ the prophets and messengers. Do not tell them, O Alī.” He said: So I did not tell them until they had both died.
