1298 — Abū Bakr ibn Abd al-Hamīd ⦗1837⦘ al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Rizq Allah al-Kalwadhānī narrated to us, saying: al-Husayn ibn Alī al-Jufī narrated to us, saying: Zā’idah ibn Qudāmah narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Abū Burdah ibn Abī Mūsā, from his father, who said:
The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—fell ill, and his illness became severe. He said, “Tell Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer.” Aisha said, “O Messenger of Allah, Abū Bakr is a tender-hearted man. Whenever he stands in your place, he will be unable to lead the people in prayer.” He said, “Tell Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer.” The messenger then went to him and conveyed the instruction, so he led the people in prayer during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
