1269 — Abū Bakr Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Sulaymān al-Bāghandī also narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Humayd al-Rāzī narrated to us, saying: Alī ibn Mujāhid narrated to us, from Ashath ibn Ishāq, from Jafar ibn Abī al-Mughīra, from Saīd ibn Jubayr, concerning the words of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, “Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon him” [al-Tawba: 40]. He said, “Upon Abū Bakr, because tranquility had never ceased to accompany the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him.” ⦗1808⦘

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah Most High have mercy upon him—said: When the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and Abū Bakr were in the cave, and the polytheists came and stood above it, Abū Bakr feared for the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—from the polytheists. The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—therefore said to him, “Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us. Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon him” [al-Tawba: 40]—that is, upon Abū Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him.
